Spectrum × Prostoria

INSPIRED BY MODERNISM
Prostoria is a brand built on the heritage of Croatian Modernism. Spectrum draws from the broader movement as a whole — a tradition that produced some of the most refined and socially ambitious architecture of the twentieth century, from modest social housing to elegant private villas — embracing its geometric clarity, its belief in the social value of good design, and its less-but-better attitude, translated into a versatile, human-centred seating system.
At the heart of Modernism is the proposition that industrial precision and genuine craft, combined, produce something neither could achieve alone. This is why we wanted Spectrum to celebrate Prostoria's full range of in-house production capabilities — wood, metal, lacquer and upholstery, all under one roof. We conceived Spectrum as an open system — legs, armrests, and even dimensions can be adapted while the form remains coherent, from compact armchairs to modular configurations for offices, lounges, and public spaces.

CHOOSE EVERY DETAIL
Spectrum is a system, not a statement. Its formal clarity and lightweight proportions draw on the spirit of Modernism — rational, restrained, and assured in the belief that good design serves people rather than expresses itself. In an era where furniture is often deployed as a display of status, Spectrum takes the opposite position: it understands constraint not as a limitation but as a form of respect — for the body, for the space, and for the life that unfolds within it. Aalto called this the human side of architecture: the acknowledgement that no two bodies, no two spaces, and no two moments are the same.
Like people, Spectrum carries multiple identities — understated or expressive, classic or edgy — depending on what you need it to be. A flexible arrangement of elements — seat, backrest, cushions — built on a base as essential as a perfect white shirt: lightweight, timeless, and capable of being dressed up or down for any space and occasion. Three base options and three armrest types extend the possibilities further, making Spectrum equally at home in a residential living room, a hospitality lounge, or a contemporary office.

COLLECTIVE AND FOCUSED
We approached the modular Spectrum System as a way to choreograph interaction. Flexible landscapes that support the flow of social life — spaces that can be reconfigured as easily as the needs of the people within them. This idea has deep roots in Modernist thinking: the best open plans were never about emptiness, but about the intelligent organisation of human activity, giving different moments their own territory without resorting to walls.
Designed for those seeking focus within the collective, the Spectrum Highback builds on the fluid design of the system to create islands of acoustic and visual privacy. In a world of increasingly open, shared environments, the ability to find a more concentrated state of mind without withdrawing entirely has become as important as the space itself. Color plays an active role here as a way of defining territory, shifting mood, and marking the difference between a space for gathering and one for thinking.
