Cila and Cila Go × Arper

A SIMPLE GESTURE, A SENSOUOS FEEL
For the fluid form of Cila, we were inspired by the image of layers of cloth enveloping the body. Its silhouette of smooth lines retains a graphic character from its distinctive curve — the most essential symbol of shelter. Like being protected, like being held: a protective concept that connects to earth, to the handmade, to clay, to skin. That same sensibility inspired the colour range — tones that evoke the warmth and softness of clay, a material with the same haptic appeal as the form itself.
Cila's easy shape blends naturally into both residential and contract environments. Its delicate silhouette makes it suitable for a wide range of applications — from hospitality spaces to the intimacy of the home, from meeting rooms to home offices. The polypropylene shell can be a small armchair or a chair, both combine with different bases: wooden legs, sled, and trestle. With the introduction of Cila Go in 2018, it naturally extends into education spaces.

GANDALF GOES TO SCHOOL
Learning at its best is magic. Cila Go extends the idea of enveloping form to an unusual starting point for an education chair: the silhouette of a sage — think Gandalf or Obi-Wan in a long, sweeping cape. Far from the typical technical image of learning chairs, with a touch of humour and a sculptural instinct, we translated that image into a form that is closed and protective from behind, creating a sheltered space for books and bags under the seat.
A different way of thinking about a typology usually defined by robust, almost sportive shapes, Cila Go became a mobile, flexible system that supports collaboration, independent work, and technology-enabled learning — for students of all ages. The storage base doubles as a stool, and an optional swivel-arm tablet integrates digital tools into a spatial proposition that adapts as fluidly as the learning itself.

EVERYWHERE AT EASE
Cila became one of our most successful collections, fitting equally well in both residential and contract environments: from hospitality spaces to the intimacy of the home, from meeting rooms to home offices, from restaurants to universities and training centres. Elegant, discreet, and warm, the shell is at the same time classic and contemporary.
The almost triangular signature gesture works just as well as a single piece as it does in a group, creating a graphic cadence across a space. Repeated, the form generates a rhythm — a subtle visual pattern that gives a room character without imposing on it. It is the kind of shape that rewards repetition, becoming more itself the more of it there is.
