Adell × Arper

SOFT AS MOSS
For Adell we wanted to bring a nature-inspired sensibility to indoor and outdoor spaces alike. Defined by low, rounded curves, its form is smooth like a pebble and soft as mounded moss. The calming silhouette is designed to put both body and mind at ease, offering a calm, reassuring presence within contemporary, nature-oriented environments.
Crafted from 80% recycled polypropylene, Adell combines a soft shell with an organic texture and earthy tones reminiscent of stone, moss, and plants. Grounded in reduction, reuse, and recycling, the design is made to endure, allowing each chair to adapt to new contexts and extend its life over time.

REFRAMING PLASTIC
Plastic was the obvious material choice for Adell for several reasons: the generous, flowing curves of the collection are best achieved through injection moulding, and its robustness, UV resistance, and weather tolerance make it equally suited to a sun-drenched terrace or a contract interior. It is also lightweight and built to last — qualities that matter as much in hospitality as in the home.
But plastic carries associations that needed to be challenged. Too often it reads as temporary, disposable, unworthy of care. Our response was an organic surface texture inspired by the concentric rings of a tree trunk — evoking the warmth of natural materials without imitating them, and embracing the irregular and imperfect as a sign of quality rather than its absence.

NATURAL COLORS
We couldn't have imagined Adell's shell texture in abstract or artificial colours. The palette follows the same logic as the surface itself: nuanced tones drawn from organic materials. We researched actual plants, stones, and mosses to arrive at a set of colours grounded in the natural world — muted greens, warm terracottas, sandy beiges, the grey of weathered stone — alongside softened basics like graphite black and ivory that anchor the range without hardening it.
Each colour was chosen to help the chair belong — outdoors on a terrace or in a garden, indoors in a living room, a waiting area, or a lounge. Tones drawn from leaves, bark, and earth that shift in character with the light and the season, and that age, like natural materials, with a certain grace.
